The Maestrazgo region, north of the city of Valencia, is sparsely populated and very mountainous. This ride is suitable for seasoned and experienced cyclists only. While the distances are moderate, there is a considerable amount of climbing, with some climbs long and challenging. There is no SAG wagon or support vehicle and public transport is virtually non-existent - anyone not able to complete the day's ride will need to take a taxi. Participants will need to have a degree of self-reliance, as due to the terrain, it is not anticipated that everyone will ride as a group. The leaders have completed two different versions of this tour and know the area quite well.
Touring bike rental complete with racks and panniers is included in the price (e-bikes £450 supplement). These are not lightweight road bikes but rugged touring bikes: progress each day will be slow, typically averaging 10mph. We will spend a day exploring the city of Valencia before the start of the ride.
