Spring in the Costa Blanca
28 Feb. - 7 March and 7 - 14 March:
Get away from the winter in Britain and experience the Spring weather on the Costa Blanca, along with the many professional teams that base themselves in the Denia area for early season training. We will not be cycling quite as quickly as them though! At this time of year, the almond blossom should be out in all its glory ranging from white through to dark pink, and the orange and citrus harvest will be in full swing. New improved routes for this year.

Saturday
Arrival.
Transfer from Alicante airport to arrive at your accommodation, check in and assemble or collect your hire bike.
If your arrival time is early enough there will be time for a short ride to familiarise yourself with the area, and check for any problems with your bike.
Sunday
Xabia and castle visit.
We will take a walk to Denia castle in the morning then in the afternoon take some quiet lanes to Gata de Gorgos, then on to Xabia (Javea) where we can find a beachside restaurant for lunch and maybe stroll along the front. To return we climb the iconic Montgo and ride along to the Cap de San Antoni viewpoint before our last all downhill run back to the hotel. 41kms, 485 metres of ascent.
Monday
Bernia
Bernia, a favourite climb on the Tour of Valencia. The Bernia is well known amongst local cyclists. We ride to Jalon for coffee, then climb the Bernia itself. A long climb but once at the summit, mostly downhill back to Denia. 84kms. 1145 metres of ascent.
Tuesday
Font Salada
Head inland towards Pego then to the edge of the Parc Natural Marjal de Pego y Oliva to visit the attractive Font Salada, where springs rise to the surface and people often swim in the warmer waters. Then return along the coast. 68kms, 514 metres of ascent.
Wednesday
Petracos
Petracos and Val d'Ebo. A steady climb inland through typically Spanish towns to the beautiful Petracos road. A short descent to Vall d'Ebo then a short climb before a spectacular descent to Pego. A visit to the beach on the way back. 80kms. 867 metres of ascent.
Thursday
Coll de Rates
The famous Coll de Rates beckons with its iconic summit restaurant. A long climb but well graded at around 5%. We descend the same way to Alcalali and on to Denia. 73kms. 984 metres of ascent.
Friday
Oliva
A flat ride. We use mainly old railway lines and lanes to Oliva where we can visit the busy market. Then quiet lanes and cycle paths back to Denia. We may stop at a beachside café on the way back. 50kms. 61 metres of ascent.
